What I Can Expect When I Visit A Chiropractor?

While the basis of our care aims to treat your condition as fast as possible, we first need to thoroughly understand your medical history and the specifics of the ailment that is causing concern. For this reason, your first visit will require quite a bit more time than any future appointments. You will first need to complete a few forms that ask questions about your health, lifestyle and medical history.

After that, you and your Doctor will sit down for a chat to get to know each other better, discuss your answers, and any additional questions you or the doctor may have. The Dr will perform a Chiropractic Assessment which includes, among other checks, blood pressure, range of motion, muscle tone and strength. After that, the Dr will diagnose the problem and determine which treatments will work best - Your treatment plan and can include any combination of the following:

  • Adjustments to the spine and/or joints
  • Soft Tissue Therapies such as massage, Interferential current therapy, ultrasound, or traction
  • Stretching or strengthening exercises
  • Advice on posture, nutrition, at-home care, ergonomics and guidance for general well-being.

You should feel comfortable to ask as many questions as you like about the prescribed treatments. Remember that our care focuses on assisting the body in healing itself and treatment is prescribed to elicit these changes as fast as possible.

What is Sports Chiropractic and How Does It Work?

Sports Chiropractic is an extension of chiropractic medicine with advanced knowledge of sports medicine and the treatment sports-related injuries.

The fundamental premise of Chiropractic care is that structure affects function. When your spine and skeletal structure are aligned, your muscles and nerves function as intended –giving the body has the opportunity to heal itself.

Chiropractic treatment can consist of a combination of therapies such as manipulation, mobilisation, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and exercises to break up scar tissue, address injuries, aid recovery and enhance performance.

When Should You Consider Seeing a Chiropractor?

Don’t wait for pain or injury to strike! It is advisable to regularly have your spinal and joint alignment evaluated – especially if you exercise regularly.

Hours of training and athletic events put tremendous stress on our bodies. Sports chiropractors are a natural fit for athletes of any age or level!

Whether you are an aspiring or elite athletic, a chronic sitter (corporate office work) or have skeletal health concerns, a chiropractor can assess, diagnose and treat a variety of physical ailments non-invasively.
